A GORGEOUS PAIR OF EARLY VICTORIAN CUT GLASS RINSERS.
A pair of early Victorian cut glass rinsers.
- A gorgeous pair of early Victorian cut glass rinsers. Rinsers or coolers were used for chilling or rinsing wine glasses at the table, between courses. One per person would be placed on the table, facilitating the repeated use of the same glass for different wines.
Later it became more common to have a different glass for each wine. Although it's original use is no longer relevant, the rinser can be a lovely collector's item and has practical uses as a bowl. These beautiful examples have facet cutting to the sides, star cut bases and a band of hobnail cut decoration.
